It's Day 1 of the Fall-O-Ween Blog Hop and the topic is color. And I don't think it will come as a surprise to anyone that the colors of fall are some of my favorites. How can you not love all those browns, reds, golds and greens?
And of course, if you take a look at my fabric stash, you'll find lots of browns and neutrals.
And even my threads are the color of fall. (By the way, these are some wool threads that I got from Sue Spargo. I love the colors she offers and they are beautiful to work with too!)
But my favorite color of the fall has to be the vibrant reds. It must be that "pop" of color that draws my eye to them! This is a Japanese Maple that we have in the front yard and it's my favorite tree in the fall because of the color that the leaves change to. Of course, by this time of the year, everything else around it is brown because it's so dry. Maybe that's why I love to use brown and red together in a quilt. Huh. I never made the connection until right now....
So that's enough of my ramblings. Make sure you go visit Gudren and get your free project! I'm sure she has something wonderful and fun for you!
Love all Fall colors but the reds do make everything pop between all that orange.

I love Fall, too! All of those beautiful colors nature weaves together to make a living quilt...who couldn't love that!
I have to tell you that I love your patterns. I recently had a give away on my blog and gave your "Pumpkins and Spice" booklet as one of the prizes. EVERYONE wanted it! I'm getting ready to purchase a couple more to give as gifts to friends. And I have two or three of your bag patterns...they are all great!
Looking forward to the rest of the hop and your upcoming project!
XOXO,
Cyndi

I honestly have never thought to use red and brown together. But now that you mention it, I bet it would look great.

I love fall colors, so warm feeling.
I have some wool threads, they are wonderful to work with.
I had a japanese maple in our front yard, then my son ran into it with the riding mower;)

Not normally a fan of brown, none in my stash - but I do like most of brown/pink quilts that are popular right now. Little bit of red and even less orange. I lean more toward the cooler colors, unless I just need a pop of color. Looking forward to checking the post for the Fall-O-Ween blog hop.

We planted a Japanese Maple this past spring but I do not remember what fall color it is suppose to be. Time will tell!
The red in yours is lovely.

Well my first post didn't show up, so here goes again. Autumn is my favourite time of year and orange is my favourite colour. I love your pictures! My neighbour has a 'burning bush' shrub and right now it is a vibrant red colour. It really stands out against the pine trees.

Mmm your wool thread looks lovely! I have a few spools of that, but haven't used any of it yet.

Earlier this summer I realized that I really didn't have much red in my stash. So I've been kind of trying to change that (really, all of the warm colors). And I realized it doesn't take a lot of red (or orange or purple or green) to add the necessary spark to a project. And you don't want to make it extremely obvious -- fire engine red in a quilt that uses mostly muted fabrics in colors that you find in nature.
I realize how much I have to learn and how much I've forgotten over the years!

Your fabrics, and patterns, happen to be in my "all time favorite" column whenever I'm asked, so it's no wonder I love your colors too. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! I want your Fall fabric stash. I'm a Christmas person and have very little fall fabrics but after looking at all these blogs over the hop, I definitely have to get my stash increased. It's been so inspiring reading all the blogs.
